A unique approach to Intellectual Property

With our own team of IP attorneys and paralegals working on a global portfolio of over 25,000 trade marks for Fortune 500 companies, as well as individual trade mark owners, Nucleus is the only brand consultancy that can offer to register, protect and enforce the intellectual property we create.

Nucleus’ integrated approach to creating, registering, protecting and enforcing our clients IP rights is unique and brings with it many benefits. Not only can we short-cut trade mark search and application processes, but we can also register or acquire top level internet domains. We often do this as a single, integrated project.

We can also look out for your brand online. Increasingly we see unscrupulous third parties, particularly in the developing world, copying brand assets and in some cases complete websites to use to their own advantage. Spotting these infringements before they become a problem and shutting down offending websites is all part of protecting brands in a digital world.

But problems occur everywhere and Nucleus discovered the phenomenon we called brand hijacking in the UK back in 2006. This is where competitors use brand names and even trade marks in SEO meta data or PPC search keywords to intercept searches for competitors' brands. We still believe brand hijacking is rife in some search-dependent industries.

Nucleus’ subsidiary, Nucleus IP, is one of the top trade mark firms in London, with a history that goes back beyond 1886 - the company then being known as Trade Mark Owners Association. TMOA's founders represented Bass Ratcliffe & Gretton, and registered trade marks number 1 and 2 for Bass in 1876. Their clerk queued overnight to secure the very first trade mark as the registry office opened. TMOA protected Bass trade marks for 115 years until these were sold to Interbrew, the Belgian brewing corporation. In 2003 TMOA changed its name to Hallmark IP and was then acquired by Nucleus from an association of brand owning corporations, including Nestle, Heinz, Cadbury's, Intercontinental Hoetls and PZ Cussons.

Nucleus IP's attorneys advise many of the world’s largest companies on trade mark, copyright and design rights issues and operates a global network of national trade mark attorneys that is second to none.

As part of its service, Nucleus IP currently offers a 12 month free trade mark watching service to new clients.
