This project was a leader in its sector - the UK's first PC-based banking service. First Direct already had a reputation as an innovator in personal banking, and it wanted to develop a strong online brand experience. Nucleus ensured that the distinctive brand identity was used effectively within a screen-based environment, and we created fast, functional and easy-to-use interfaces. We worked with ICL to build the back-end and integrate the server architecture into the client's systems, and to ensure that the site was robust and secure. When the site launched, there were soon 20,000 customers on the waiting list. Today, over one million online customers use this service. The cost of customer transactions has fallen from around 30 pence (via the telephone) to just 2 pence. |
