Today, January 31st, Nucleus officially launches its new RSS service for travel operators, which the company believes will transform the way consumers are kept updated with the latest travel news and offers. The first implementation of this fully managed application is for Luxury Explorer - the World Atlas of where to stay in luxury.
To explain the jargon, RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a format for distributing content that can be broken down into discrete items. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way, e.g. sending an email alert to an opt-in mailing list. For Luxury Explorer, this means visitors subscribing to the free service will receive RSS alerts as soon as they are posted on the site, such as Luxury Explorer's 5 Star Special Offers and Exclusives, such as the current '7 nights for the price of 5' at Carlisle Bay Antigua.
