Ardfin – a bespoke website for Scotland’s most exciting hotel opening

Perfectly positioned at the southern tip of the Isle of Jura in Scotland’s ravishing Inner Hebrides, Ardfin was acquired in 2011 by Greg Coffey, an Australian hedge fund manager, who has restored the estate and built a world-class golf course that has already been described as “a modern masterpiece”.

Sculpted into the shoreline of the 12,000 acre estate, the golf course is astonishing, as is Jura House, which can be booked on an exclusive use basis, while “the Quads” operates as a the 5-star hotel. Ardfin’s website, however, did not tell the story well and so the owner tracked down Nucleus to put that right in time for lock-down easing.

Our brief was to design a bespoke luxury website with a finely-tuned user experience to showcase the property in all its beauty, appealing to golf fanatics, bucket-list explorers and nature lovers alike.

Finesse, personality and a unique sense of place

We worked with Greg in New York, his team in London and on the property, to design a new user experience where potential guests can explore the estate, exploring videos and galleries that bring Ardfin to life. We also wrote the copy.

The result is a frictionless user experience that entices with its sophisticated, timeless design. Yet this website is practical, too, with content quickly updated through an Umbraco .Net content management system. Online booking uses the hotels Hart PMS system.

Peter Matthews, Nucleus’ founder and managing director, led the project and said “Bringing Ardfin to life with a bespoke 5-star website experience has been a privilege. With re-opening, as more content becomes available, we will continue to enhance Ardfin’s unique brand proposition, based on solid digital foundations.”
