Transforming skills for a sustainable tomorrow

The challenge of achieving a successful transition to sustainable energy is monumental, with many different skills needed across the multiple value chains. Europe is lacking highly qualified people along the Battery Value Chain, but the same is true of the Solar PV and Green Hydrogen industries. For example, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the number of jobs in the solar PV industry alone is expected to reach 18 million by 2030, which is more than four times the number of jobs in the industry in 2015.

InnoEnergy Skills Institute aims to equip the global workforce with the knowledge and expertise needed to meet this demand. The Institute is inspired and informed by EIT InnoEnergy’s leadership of key industrial alliances and companies of all sizes, universities, and training providers worldwide can benefit from their courses, backed by a range of sector experts, alliances, and partnerships.

Nucleus worked with EIT InnoEnergy in a fast-track programme to define and articulate the brand strategy, values, brand promise and naming for the Institute, starting with an intensive workshop in Barcelona in January. Nucleus used its 5-step Brand Experience Blueprint® process to guide the brand strategy development, resulting in a brand narrative expressed as values, 100-word, 50-word brand propositions and a positioning strapline – the brand promise - “Transforming skills for a sustainable tomorrow”.

EIT InnoEnergy Marketing Director, Raj Ghelani, said “We needed to quickly reposition the EBA Academy as a much broader enabler of skills to support a rapid acceleration of sustainable energy innovations. In next to no time Nucleus guided us to an excellent solution with a name and value proposition that works across all our industrial value chains.”

Nucleus Managing Director, Peter Matthews, who led the Nucleus team on this assignment, added “This is such an important step in energy decarbonisation, where our brand strategy methodology and expertise helped create a new brand to address the worldwide skills shortage in sustainable energy industries.”
